SusanMayWarren of Grand Marais, author of 35 published books, is up for two awards for her book My Foolish Heart. Both awards will be announced this summer.
Local author Susan May Warren of Grand Marais is up for another award. Romance Writers of America, a professional association of more than 10,000 members, has named Warren a finalist in the Inspirational Romance category of the 2012 RITA awards for her book My Foolish Heart.
The RITA, the highest award of distinction in the romance publishing industry, recognizes excellence in published romance novels and novellas.
Up to 1,200 romance novels and novellas from 12 different categories are judged each year in the RITA competition. After the first round of judging by fellow published romance authors, the competition narrows to approximately 100 finalists.
Winners of the awards will be announced July 28, 2012 at an awards ceremony to be held at the 32nd annual Romance Writers of America conference in Anaheim, California.
My Foolish Heart, published by Tyndale House Publishers, is about a syndicated radio talk show star who falls for an anonymous caller, a high school football coach and Iraq vet suffering from PTSD who also happens to be her next-door neighbor and has fallen for her as well. This is the fourth in Warren’s Deep Haven series about life in a small Minnesota town. It is dedicated to the Cook County High School football team and staff and makes reference to The World’s Best Donuts.
Warren has been a finalist in three RITA awards and has won once. She is up for a Christy Award this summer for the same book. This is the fifth time she has been a finalist for the Christy award, which recognizes “Christian novels of excellence.”
As of this summer, she will have published 35 books.
