Joey Pederson is looking quite relaxed here. You wouldn’t know he was two blocks from finishing Grandma’s Marathon on June 19, 2010 in Duluth. Great run, Joey!
Cruising in on a light breeze in tolerable temperatures to the finish line of Grandma’s Marathon and Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth on Saturday, June 19, 2010 were at least 14 current Cook County runners and one former Cook County runner. The day before, five Cook County residents crossed the finish line of the William A. Irvin 5k.
Former Cook County resident John Wood greeted some of the spectators from Grand Marais as he sped past the 26-mile mark, 2/10 of a mile short of the finish line. He had been preceded by just two other current Cook County residents, Joey Pederson and Andrew Strand, the only other locals to make it across the finish line.
The esteemed second- and thirdplace finishers of the March 27 Kids Plus Easter 5k fun run in Grand Marais may have enjoyed the balmy Duluth weather more than they had enjoyed the rain and cold of their previous victory. Jennifer Spry and her son Trent, age 8, crossed the finish line together once again, the fastest of the five Cook County William A. Irvin 5k runners. Here are the race results:
