Football Head Coach Mitch Dorr and long time assistant Mike Boomer were recently honored at the 48th annual Minnesota Football Coaches Association awards banquet held in Minneapolis.

Boomer was awarded the Butch Nash Award. Each year this award is given to a small number of assistant coaches who demonstrate loyalty to their program, coaching competency, outstanding rapport with players and fellow coaches, integrity beyond reproach and at least 15 years of coaching experience.

During Boomer’s tenure the Vikings have had many successful seasons, including three straight championships, 10 conference titles, and numerous Section 7A titles.

Mitch Dorr was recognized as the coach of the year for the Red Division of the Great Polar Alliance Conference. The CCHS Viking team won the conference title this past fall.

Attending the banquet with Dorr and Boomer was Hall of Fame football coach Lyle Anderson and his son, Erik, a former outstanding Cook County High School football player and all around good kid. Lyle Anderson was inducted in the Minnesota High School Football Coach’s Hall of Fame in 2003.
