Local communities should become united in voice of change

I am encouraged that Janice Latz’s letter in the April 7 News-Herald was titled “Social Justice is pretty similar to the Golden Rule.” She speaks of Social Justice being about “fairness, justness and equal treatment and opportunity for all.” And that “we are encouraged to respect each other and understand that we all come from different backgrounds that color our perspectives.”

She makes a reference to the “Golden Rule’”poster (Do to others as you would have them do to you) that I presented to the audience during Billy Blackwell’s recent talk preceding the CC School’s day of Social Justice workshops. I wish to inform you if interested that the poster is available online, by searching for the “Golden Rule in 13 Messages.” Also known as the “Ethic of Reciprocity,” the poster using 13 similar messages “focuses on the Golden Rule as not just a moral ideal for relationships between people, but also for relationships among nations, cultures and religions.”

Shouldn’t we in our local communities sincerely take this to heart, and become a united voice of change that the world may see?
