The Grand Marais Art Colony received two grants and the Grand Marais Playhouse one grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council (ARAC).
The Art Colony will receive $4,000 to increase the hours of its part-time staff person. This will allow the administrator more time to focus on strategic planning for marketing and programming.
A second award of $5,990 will be used to produce and expand a Plein Air competition and exhibition in the fall of 2010.
The Grand Marais Playhouse was awarded $6,000 to assist in producing Cole Porter’s play You Never Know.
This will run from July 29 to August 8.
Funds for these grants are made available through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. A total of $159,115 was awarded throughout the Northland in McKnight/ARAC Art Project Grants.
