Local art showcased in JHP exhibit




Johnson Heritage Post is hosting a reception on Feb. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. to showcase the combined permanent collections of the Cook County Historical Society and the Johnson Heritage Post.

The collections include paintings by Birney Quick, Howard Sivertson, Harvey Turner, and even Ellen “Ma” Douglas. The late 19th century pencil sketches by Judge George Durfee will also be displayed for the first time in many years.

The exhibit will be open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through March 3. Other hours may be arranged by contacting the gallery at 387-2314 or by calling Don Davison at 387-1698.
