Lloyd C. Larsen, 83, passed away peacefully February 6, 2010 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay.
Lloyd was born April 14, 1926 to Andrea (Eide) and Hans Larsen. He spent his childhood growing up in Grand Marais and attended the local school. He was very proud of his heritage. Lloyd was one of the local band of
brothers who served our country – he on
served proudly in the Navy during World on
War II from September 15, 1944, through
June 9, 1946.
Lloyd returned to Grand Marais and worked at various occupations, and realized his love for nature. He and his brother Henry organized Larsen Brothers Logging. He retired in 1989 and continued to deliver firewood for several years. Lloyd and his family spent many weekends camping and fishing with very special friends and family. He also enjoyed bowling and received many trophies.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Andrea & Hans Larsen; brothers Stanley, Melvin, Jewel, Bernard, Henry and Roger; sister Eileen Burke; son Daniel; and granddaughter Crystal.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty (Burge); the light of his life daughter Cindy; granddaughter Andrea; son Lawrence (Faith) Larsen of Batavia, N.Y.; grandchildren Kevin, Michelle (Daniel) Dowell and Janelle Larsen; sister Laura (Gene) Ranning; sisters-in-law Joyce (Francis) Drouillard, Evelyn and Marilyn Larsen, Carol (Earl) Hagdon, and Nona and Helene Smith; brother-inlaw Ray (Marion) Burge; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at First Congregational Church in Grand Marais on February 1l.
