The Lighthouse Center for Vision Loss is returning to Grand Marais to offer the second seminar of its series called Living Well with Vision Loss on Wednesday, September 14 from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Cook County Community Center.
Mary Junnila, executive director of the Lighthouse Center for Vision Loss ,encourages individuals, family members and professionals to attend this second session even if they were unable to attend the first. This session will focus on skill-building, offering practical strategies for making life easier, including techniques for daily living—cooking more safely, eating out, identifying money, using writing guides and more. The session will also introduce adaptive devices and offer other resources for assistance.
The session is free and drop-ins are welcome, but organizers would appreciate pre-registration to plan for the number of attendees. Refreshments will be provided.
The free seminars are possible because of help from the Northland Foundation. A number of other seminars will be held through November in Lake County and Duluth, including Braille – The Code to Independence, which will be held at the Lighthouse Center for Vision Loss, 4505 West Superior Street, Duluth on October 24, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.
