Living well with chronic conditions

The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging is seeking volunteers to become leaders in the Living Well with Chronic Conditions program. Leaders will facilitate groups of people with chronic conditions with the objectives being to build confidence in selfhealth management and help maintain an active lifestyle.

People interested in volunteering to become a leader will receive 24 hours of classroom training. The next four-day training class for leaders will be held in Duluth Nov. 12-13 and 19-20. Registration for the leadership training is required by Nov. 5 and is limited to 16 potential leaders. For a registration packet contact Lee Swenson at the Senior LinkAge Line® 1-800-333-2433 ext. 81019.

Trained leaders will help people find practical ways to deal with issues related to chronic conditions such as pain and fatigue, the need for better nutrition and exercise choices, a better understanding of new treatment options, and learning new ways to talk with family and doctors about health. Volunteering with the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging can provide volunteers an opportunity to learn new skills, make a difference in someone’s life, meet new people, gain a sense of achievement, enhance the person’s network, and be a community leader.
