Lives Remembered





 

 

Larry “Pete” Eliasen, 50 of Duluth, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly in his home of natural causes on Friday, June 24, 2011.

Pete was born in Two Harbors, Minnesota on November 3, 1960. He grew up in Schroeder, Minnesota and attended Cook County High School in Grand Marais, where he graduated in 1979.

Pete spent several years in Fairbanks, Alaska, Aspen, Colorado and Key West, Florida until he settled in Duluth in 2006.

Pete was a dear friend to many. He was a skilled handyman and was quick to lend a helping hand when he wasn’t working on his home, cars or any of his other ongoing projects.

Pete is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnson and maternal grandfather Mr. Walt Kimball.

Pete is survived by his father Larry (Dorothy) Eliasen of Grand Marais, mother Sue (Harvey) Genadek of Duluth and Key West, sister Kelly Eliasen of Dallas, niece and nephew Ryann and Erik Stansberry of Dallas, maternal grandmother Mrs. Marian Kimball of Grand Marais, and several aunts and uncles.

Memorial Service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais on Saturday, August 6 at 1:00 pm.

Stanley Walter Plotz, 91, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Stanley was born March 3, 1920 in Goodhue County, Minnesota to Frank and Ida Merkins Plotz. Mr. Plotz was a founding member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

He retired from Western Electric and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Pye Plotz; a son, Gerald; and three sisters, Frances Lange, Harriet Sekora, and Ruth Cork.

Surviving are two sons, Fred Plotz of Winston-Salem, and Steve Plotz (Judy) of Baltimore, Maryland.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, July 23 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
