Anne Veronica (Prebonich) Maurin, 100 years young!
Born in Keewatin, Minnesota of Croatian descent on August 22, 1910, Anne died peacefully April 13, 2011 surrounded by family.
She is survived by children Kathryn “Kay” Levitan of Grand Marais, Patrick (Elizabeth) Maurin of Alaska, Judy (John) Brisky of Lutsen, Margaret Lozenski of Grand Marais and grandchildren Peter, Lara, Clair, Angie, Karen, Joe, Lisa, Mary Lee; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved niece Catherine June.
Anne was preceded in death by husband George, brothers and sisters long past.
Anne was a devout Catholic, wife, mother and friend. Anne loved nature—berry picking, swimming, fishing on Crooked Lake, trailing arbutus in spring, and colored fall leaves.
She was a wonderful cook of homemade soups and baker of potica. She traveled the world from Israel to Alaska, and Yugoslavia.
Anne had only kind words for people, looked for the good in others and had a warm hand to offer. She will be missed by family and friends alike.
