Thomas Robin Johnson, son of Esther (Dolly) Johnson and Thomas Johnson, died unexpectedly Oct. 10, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. He was surrounded by his family and friends.
Tom was born Jan. 4, 1956 in Duluth. He attended schools in Grand Marais and graduated from Cook County High School in 1974. He spent many years in Alaska as a commercial fisherman. Thomas also worked for the Glenn Peterson Construction Company of Grand Marais.
Thomas was an avid outdoorsman and particularly loved his cabin at Birch Lake up the Gunflint Trail. He will be remembered for his strong family ethic, his gentle and loving spirit and positive outlook on life.
Tom is survived by his wife of 26 years, Malena; sons Cody and Drew Johnson; brothers John (Heidi) Jacobsen of Grand Marais, David (Tina) Johnson of Grand Marais; sisters Lynn Johnson of Fargo, N.D., and Kelly (Don) Johnson of Grand Marais; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16.
