Agnes Jeanette Waage,
93, of Owatonna, formerly of West Concord, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House.
She was born October 15, 1916 in Hereim Township, the daughter of Samuel and Geolena (Knutson) Olson. Agnes worked for a hotel, cleaning and baking prior to taking a job with the Gust and Thea Waage family. While working for the Waage family she met Enok Waage. Agnes married Enok Waage September 15, 1936 in Greenbush.
The couple farmed in the Greenbush area until 1957 when they moved to Winger to manage the Grilla Truck Stop. In 1960, they moved to Lake Park where they owned and operated Ace Service and Cafe. In 1969, the couple moved to West Concord where they operated the Waage Furniture Store and Agnes also worked for the West Concord Funeral Chapel.
Agnes enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, needlework and ceramics. She loved to play cards, traveling and dancing. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan who rarely missed a televised game.
Agnes is survived by her daughters, Linda Wollin of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Rita (and Gene) Michaelson of Owatonna; son, Roger (and Debra) Waage of Hovland; grandchildren, Todd Wollin, Jody (and Dan) Wolters, Karla (and Marty) Prins, Britt (and Randy Bredell) Michaelson, Cory (and Angela) Michaelson, Desiree (and Kraig) Helstrom; great grandchildren, Zachary Prins, Nikole Prins, Katla Michaelson, Leif Michaelson, Elsa Helstrom; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held June 8, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House or to the donor’s choice.
