Residents and visitors on the Gunflint Trail are deeply grateful for our Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department (GTVFD) that has been responding to fires, medical emergencies, and search and rescue along the Trail since 1992!

The Mid-Trail Property Owners Association is proud to raise funds each year to support their services. Our fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at Fire Hall 1, 7500 Gunflint Trail (Mid-Trail area, 28 miles up the Gunflint Trail).

There will be a flea market and boutique from noon to 4:00 p.m., and the live auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. under the big tent. A drawing for the beautiful “Linking Us All Together” quilt (queen coverlet, measures 90 by 109 inches), handmade by the Mid-Trail Quilters Group will take place midway through the live auction. Cupcakes and lemonade will also be available for purchase.

Another feature of this year’s fundraiser is a book signing with Robert R. Olson who authored, “Two Bucks and a Can of Gas: Model A Adventures on the Gunflint Trail”. Half the proceeds will be donated to the GTVFD. His Model A truck will be on display.

You can help this event raise funds for our volunteer fire department in these ways: . Tell as many people as possible about the auction/flea market and “bring” them along to attend the event on August 7. . Donate quality items for the flea market. Our flea markets have had many interesting donations —from art work, bikes, housewares, motors, boats, cabin décor, and everything in between! We do not accept clothing, mattresses, heavy furniture, bundles of books like encyclopedias, and anything that is broken. Donated items will be received on Aug. 6, from 1-4 p.m. at Fire Hall 1. . Encourage people to buy quilt raffle tickets! Raffle tickets will be sold at various Gunflint Trail businesses before the fundraiser (including on the weekends at Trail Center from 12-6) and will be available at the event. Tickets are $5 or 3 tickets for $10. You need not be present to win.

So come to the auction for your chance to bid on incredible items and experiences! You can shop for yourself, or buy something for a friend. We have already received some terrific items such as pottery, Waterford crystal and handmade quilts (in addition to the raffle quilt). Thank you for showing the GTVFD your support by helping raise vital funding!
