The Grand Marais Lions and Lioness clubs relaxed and took a deep breath after the busy summer during the Lion’s Steak Fry on Tuesday, August 25th at the Gunflint Hills Golf Course in Grand Marais. After the amazing amount of time and effort it took to organize Fisherman’s Picnic weekend for our community, it is a well-deserved break.

A round of golf and a steak fry dinner was on the day’s agenda. Andrew Smith was the master chef of the evening with Ken Wielinski and Andrew Brostrom helping to set up the buffet. Gene Erickson (hungry as a Lion) stood by to check on the status of the steaks.

Another deep breath and the planning of next year’s Fisherman’s Picnic will begin!

The Lioness Club, always invited to the steak fry, also took time to relax and socialize with the Lions Club after their whirlwind dinner buffet and silent auction fundraiser. The Lioness Club supports the Lions during Fisherman’s Picnic by helping to staff the fishburger stand and the kiddie rides, as well as selling Lions raffle tickets.

All in all, it was a very successful year for both clubs, which means it will be a very good year for this community.
