Lions Club District Governor visits Grand Marais

The Grand Marais Lions Club welcomed a new member—and the Lions Club District Governor to their September 17 meeting. (L-R) New member sponsor Lion Rob Hackett, newly inducted Lion Adam Brandt, District Governor Mel Milender.

The new Lions Club District Governor Mel Milender, along with his wife, Lion Mary Lou, visited the Grand Marais Lions Club at the September 17 meeting at the Grand Marais Rec. Park building. The District Governor was recently inducted into office at the 99th International Lions Clubs Convention in Fukuoka, Japan with 35,000 Lions in attendance from around the world.

The visit to the Grand Marais Lions Club was one of 43 he will make during his year in office as he travels across Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Ontario.

During the District Governor’s visit he inducted a new member to the local Lions Club, Adam Brandt.
