Lioness 26th Annual Fundraiser a success

The Grand Marais Lioness Fundraiser on July 29 included a dinner buffet, a silent auction and a bake sale, and was very successful. The Lioness Club grossed $4,000, which will be returned to our community in the form of donations.

The Lioness Annual Scholarship Award donates $1,000 to a graduating CCHS senior for continuing education. The 2009 scholarship was awarded to Cynthia Burton.

The Lioness Exemplary Awards of $100 are given to two graduating seniors based on good citizenship. The 2009 Exemplary Awards were given to Tara Austin and Kostya Senty on Saturday of Fisherman’s Picnic.

The Lioness funding for Cook County Schools includes a brief application process, filled out by teachers, requesting donations for special projects. During the 2009 school year, the Lioness Club supported the Senior Class Show, middle school enrichment activities, and the high school band all who received $500, in support of their projects.

The Grand Marais Lioness Club wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all who have supported the Lioness Club Fundraisers by attending the dinner buffet, silent auction, and bake sale, or giving time, goods, or services. The Lioness Club knows in order to continue serving this community, it needs the support of community members.
