Lion District Governor Wayne Tieman met with the Grand Marais Lions Club via a Zoom meeting, a first for the district. Because of the Coronavirus, he was unable to do a traditional in-person Governor’s visit with the club. During the meeting, Tieman announced that Lion Robert Laine and Lion Steve Quaife had been named Melvin Jones Fellows by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) in recognition of their commitment to serving the world community.
Named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones, the fellowship is one of the Foundation’s highest recognitions, honoring the commitment to humanitarian service.
Laine and Quaife have been members of the Grand Marais Lions Club for 40 and 50 years respectfully. They received a commemorative plaque and lapel pin, acknowledging their dedication to the Foundation’s humanitarian goals. As a Melvin Jones Fellow, Laine and Quaife become part of the growing network of individuals who are committed to improving the quality of life for people locally and in communities around the world.
