Christopher Lindholm was selected by the school board to become the next superintendent of I.S.D. 166.

Lindholm has been the superintendent of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, since July 2013. His last day on the job will be June 30, 2021. Prior to that, he was superintendent of the Burnsville-Eagan Savage school district, and before that Principal and Assistant Principal at Shakopee Junior High School. He also taught Social Studies and was Head Girls Soccer Coach at Northfield High School.

Principal (PK-12) Megan Myers has been the acting I.S.D. 166 superintendent for the last year. She replaced Dr. William (Bill) Crandall who was out on a medical leave of absence. Dr. Crandall also was serving as the superintendent of the Lake Superior School District, which includes Two Harbors and Silver Bay schools over the last several years.

Chris and his wife Kristin, a Language Arts teacher at Pine River-Backus School District, have two children, Sam, and Anne. Sam is a sophomore in college while Anne just finished her sophomore year in high school.

“We are looking at empty nest years and hoping for a nice transition into a different lifestyle as we’ve had a busy hobby farm in Breezy Point for the past eight years,” Chris said. “We’re looking forward to more time with my in-laws who are retired in Ely and more time to enjoy each other without farm chores!

“My first day contractually is July 1, however the housing situation is currently a challenge. I’m not sure when we’ll have a place to stay in the district. Any and all help is welcomed!” When asked how familiar he was with our area, Chris responded, “Yes, my wife Kristin and I have been to the Grand Marais/Lutsen area numerous times. I was a finalist for the principal position in 2001 and was not offered the position. We’ve vacationed in the area more times than we can count. Absolutely love it there.”

During his free time, Chris enjoys fishing, hunting, golf, contemporary worship, gardening, and spending time with his family.
