Lily Gruber- Schulz named college basketball captain



For the second year in a row, Lily Gruber-Schulz has been named captain of the Lakehead University Thunderwolves varsity basketball team. Lily is in the fourth year of a five-year basketball scholarship. A leader both on and off the court, she is majoring in honors psychology.

In her senior year at CCHS Lily averaged 15.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.8 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game. She became the second Viking basketball player to go over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career and was named to the 2016 Polar League All-Conference first team.

Lakehead, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is Canada’s leading public research university. Lakehead is nondenominational and provincially supported. The university emphasizes experiential and high impact learning practices, and is recognized as one of Ontario’s “equity powerhouses” for its commitment to serving under-represented groups.
