Lighting fills the air

Every couple of years folks living along Lake Superior get an epic treat when a big storm rolls across the area and leaves the air filled with rolling thunder and crashing lightening. This happened last Monday, April 5, from 8 p.m. till about midnight.

It was a storm to remember not so much because of the rain—there wasn’t a lot of rain—but what took place in our sky.

For those of us who drove around and found the best spots to watch, it was like viewing a lightening show to end all lightening shows. Thunder boomed as jagged lightening bolts tore and shredded the black sky over much of Lake Superior. After choosing to look from several locations, my son and I joined the audience at the Pincushion Mountain overlook. As the storm erupted over the harbor, just above us the stars shown bright. It was Mother Nature at her best!
