Light Up a Life celebration moved to new location

For many years, Care Partners has hosted “Light Up a Life,” a special event that offers community members the opportunity to purchase a light—or lights—on a beautifully decorated tree of remembrance. “Light Up a Life” is taking place once again, but it will be held in a new location. Everyone is invited to join other community members at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 4 at East Bay Suites in Grand Marais.

The tree to be lit stands across from East Bay Suites, next to Drury Lane Books, and right now it glows with lovely green bulbs. Another strand of lights has been started of white lights—as donations are received in honor of a loved one, a white bulb will be added.

A short ceremony will be held in the East Bay Stone Throw Room at 6 p.m., the tree will be lighted and all are invited to stay to visit, remember and enjoy refreshments.

Community members may support end of life care in Cook County while celebrating the lives of loved ones during the holiday season by purchasing one light for $5 on the memory tree. See the ad on page A5 for a donation form. Donation forms are also available at area stores, the library, the clinic and the hospital.

The donations not only celebrate the memory of loved ones and support Care Partners, but the sight of the tree will hopefully brighten the holiday season for all.

Care Partners Program Director Kay Grindland expressed thanks to all who helped with the Light Up a Life new location—Drury Lane Books, East Bay Suites, Buck’s Hardware, Vicki Biggs Anderson for the tree and Nick Lindgren for organizing the set up of the tree.
