Cook County News Herald

Life in Cook County is bountiful

I picked up my copy of the December 20, 2014 News-Herald as stopped in Tofte for gas and headed down the shore. I knew I would be out of the county for a couple weeks but wanted to read the paper as usual.

Wow! The photo front and center of the front page was wonderful. Congratulations to David R. Johnson for the skill and tenacity to capture this photo. I had seen ice formations east of town on the shore for a week in late November – early December. I am grateful the view was photographed. Thank you, David and staff at the News- Herald for sharing it on the front page.

As I was residing temporarily in the Metro area, I read that issue of the paper and appreciated anew where I live (and have lived for close to 25 years).

I appreciated the variety of articles: in-depth financial discussion of city and county, columns like Unorganized Territory, upcoming activities in 2015 like Qigong film and library program, even reading advertisements and noticing the variety of businesses and the special offers or music hosting.

It brings to mind the bounty that Cook County makes available to me/us. The views, the activities indoors and out, the choice of lifestyles, the quality of relationships, are all part of my bountiful experience of Cook County.

So I move into the New Year of 2015 with a renewed awareness of being “grateful and happy – here and now.” Thank you, News-Herald for your fine work in presenting a local newspaper that is filled with local flavor.
