Library Friends welcomes your books and more

When you make a donation to Library Friends of Cook County, your donation contributes to a winning triple play. Donors declutter, profit from the sale helps support the Grand Marais Public Library and local school libraries and finally, another person gains a new reading experience.

There is a major caveat—Library Friends need your gently used books, CDs and DVDs by Friday, June 17 in order to sort books for the annual Fisherman’s Picnic Used Book Sale August 4-6.

Library Friends can only accept the “gently used” for resale. Because the following items don’t sell well— textbooks, Reader’s Digest condensed books, moldy or musty books, and tape cassettes—Library Friends must recycle or dispose of them. Because the sale advertises “books for everyone,” Library Friends seeks categories ranging from art to wildlife, fiction and nonfiction, and children’s literature to healthy aging books.

Please deliver your donations to one of the library employees by June 17 for inclusion in this year’s sale. If delivery is a problem for you, call Mary Sanders at (218) 387-1729 or email her at msanders@boreal.org to arrange a pick-up of your donation.

Sanders said, “Library Friends thanks you for your support and looks forward to your attendance at the annual book sale!”
