Grand Marais Public Library anticipates increasing numbers of users who are retired baby boomers in the coming years. In preparation for “the wave” the library is purchasing more large print titles for the collection.
Nearly 50 titles have been added this summer, some from the library budget, and some via memorial gift funds. Big name authors such as Stephen King, Janet Evanovich, Louise Penny, Alexander McCall-Smith, David Housewright, Tom Clancy, and William Kent Krueger can, or will soon, be found on the large print shelves.
Whereas large print was formerly the province of romance novels, today the market covers a much broader spectrum of reading interests, with broader appeal to both men and women. Anyone who may experience eyestrain trying to read print that seems ever smaller is encouraged to visit the library to check out the selection.
If the selection on the shelf doesn’t suit your reading interest, don’t hesitate to ask the library staff if they can find a book for you from another library. They invariably can, and delivery often takes less than a week. For those who are unfamiliar with where the large print materials are shelved, they are just to the left of the door to the quiet reading room.
