For the 15th consecutive year, local horse lovers participated in the annual Libra Ride.
The ride first began in 2003 in celebration of Mary Ofjord’s 60th birthday. She invited other horse lovers for a fall trail ride and quickly learned that many in her circle had birthdays at the end of September. The group had so much fun, that they decided to make the trail ride an annual event.
Since 2003, the Libra ride has been held the last weekend of September. Riders meet for a trail ride and then potluck meal. Over the past few years, opportunities for in hand clinics and arena work have been incorporated into the day. This component was added specifically for those who are unable to ride, but still want to enjoy the fellowship and horse activities.
The 2018 ride marked Ofjord’s 75th birthday and was a full day event. For more information on how to become involved in the horse community, please visit Sawtooth Mountain Riders Horse Riders on Facebook!
