TheCook County Community Center outdoor ice skating rinks will be officially open starting Saturday, December 19 at noon. There is no charge to skate on the outdoor ice rinks.
Two rinks will be flooded again this year, a larger rink with hockey boards that can be scheduled for community groups and a small rink above that is always available for recreational ice skating.
Skaters may enjoy the ice anytime, however, the warming house does not always have a skating attendant on duty—the hours with a skating attendant are posted at the rink. You may also access the hours from our winter brochures around the community, posted in the Cook County News-Herald
(see related ad on page B2) and on-line at http:cccommunitycenter.com
or on Boreal Access.
Anytime the Community Center officeis open you can come in and ask to have the warming house opened for your skating pleasure.
Youth ages eight and under may not be left alone at the rink without an adult or sibling 12 years of age or older.
The community center does have some skates available that have been donated for community use. The skating rinks and skate use is free—the community center just asks that you leave the skates for everyone else to use.
Little tiny skate sizes and larger women and men skates are needed so if you have some nice skates you can donate, please drop them off at the community center and they can be put to good use.
Men’s hockey night will be Wednesday from 7 – 9 p.m. with adult broomball on Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9 p.m. and youth broomball on Sunday afternoons from 5 – 7 p.m. Thecommunity center is still looking for a coordinator for youth or community groups who are interested in playing ice soccer with a boot’r.
For more information about any of the ice rink activities, please contact the Community Center office at 218-387- 3015.
