LeRoy Arvid Creech,
80, of Barnum, formerly of Grand Marais, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.
LeRoy was born March 2, 1932 to Judge James and Hazel (Andersen) Creech in the home he resided in for 75 years in “Creechville” in Grand Marais.
LeRoy was united in marriage to Barbara Sebring on April 19, 1969 in Duluth. Lee and Barb lived in Grand Marais until 2008. Lee worked at a gas station, the Forest Service, the Cook County School District and also owned and operated the NAPA store in Grand Marais until his retirement in 1993.
Lee enjoyed fishing and spending time at the family’s cabin on Clearwater Lake. He was an avid HAM operator since the age of 16. His call letters were WB0HRO. He also enjoyed woodworking and visiting with people. He especially enjoyed talking with people about his youthful experiences and wrote several articles for the Reminisce magazine. He and Barb enjoyed camping, visiting with family and friends and traveling around the U.S.
LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Marlin Marx; and nephew James Marx.
LeRoy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barb Creech of Barnum; daughter Jessica Creech of Spring Lake Park; sister, Gladys Marx of Oscoda, MI; several sisters and brothers-in-law; a niece and several nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 29 at Hamlin- Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. A graveside service was held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Grand Marais.
