Learn to be a better photographer with Bryan Hansel during two classes offered by Community Education this fall. Hansel will cover what to take a picture of, photographic composition techniques, exposure control, manual camera controls, and specific digital techniques and tools during the first course, Nov. 4 and 11.
Students will learn about a concept, spend the next week on their own practicing the concept, and then during the next class, will share some of the results with the rest of the students.
Students must be older than 13, have a digital camera, and have a way to get images shot onto a CD, USB drive, or to the instructor via e-mail. Theclasses will be held at the high school conference room from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $120.
Gales of November
is the second photography course. Students will spend a day capturing the fury of the Great Lake, starting with a brief slide show exploring ways to shoot water. Then the class will head out to several locations on Lake Superior taking advantage of whatever conditions exist — if the lake is calm, time will be spent photographing Lake Superior and practicing techniques on local rivers and waterfalls. Whatever happens with the weather, this is a fun and instructive opportunity, Hansel said.
Students must be older than 13 and have a camera (digital is best, manual controls are best), rain gear, umbrella, a car to travel to different locations, good hiking boots, multiple warm layers, multiple batteries and plenty of camera memory, backpack to carry equipment and rain gear.
Theclass will be held. Nov 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jane Mianowski Conference Center. Fee is $90.
