Lawrence “Larry” Curtis Peterson, 87, of Hovland, passed away February 25, 2016 at the Veterans Home in Silver Bay, Minnesota due to complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Larry was born in Dawson, Minnesota to A.L.E, Peterson, and Charlotte Peterson, but spent most of his life on the North Shore.
Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951, served for two years, and was honorably discharged.
He married the love of his life, Dorothy on September 8, 1951. They had two children, Margaret of Oak Hills, California, and Lin of Rowland Heights, California. He also loved his daughter-in law Susan and he was proud grandfather to Preston Peterson, Lance Peterson and Kayla (Lance’s wife). He was also a great-grandfather to Landon and Cayden.
Larry spent the majority of his work career, working for Edwin E. Thoreson, contractor, and as a member of the Operating Engineers Local 49.
After retiring over 20 years ago, Larry enjoyed gardening, baking bread, picking blueberries and working in his woodpile. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother Robert (Bob) Peterson.
A celebration of life service is planned at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland on Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m.
