Lawrence D. (Larry) Christie, much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, stepfather, brother, and friend, age 81, died at his home in St. Louis Park, Minnesota from cancer on June 24, 2015.
Larry graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, graduated from St. Olaf College and taught senior high school English at Northfield Sr. High School and began a stellar career with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.
He is remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his love for the North Shore in Minnesota, and his extraordinary quest and passion for reading and writing.
He is survived by wife Jean Marie; children Scott (Anna), Eric (Cheryl), Jon (Lynn), Lisa (Fran); stepchildren Holly Marie, Kaj (Holly), Annalisa (Darren); 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Richard,
Ralph (Camille); stepbrother
Cliff (Susan); stepsister,
Cheryl; and his former wife
Virginia.
Our deep gratitude to his doctors and surgeons at Abbott Northwestern Hospital; Minnesota Oncology and Palliative Care who, for the past 5½ years, took such good care of Larry, our family, and our friends, and for Allina Health Hospice. Thank you also to our family, friends, and spiritual leaders who walked this journey with us!
A service of thanksgiving will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 333 South 12th St., Minneapolis, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, Military Honors will follow the service at Lakewood Cemetery – 3600 Hennepin Ave. Reception from 4-8 p.m. at Minneapolis Marriott West Hotel – 9960 Wayzata Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the North Shore Health Care Foundation are welcome in memory of Lawrence Christie.
