Law Enforcement responds to report of intended suicide




At approximately 2:15 p.m. July 23, Cook County Sheriff ’s Office Dispatch received a report of a suicidal male that intended to die by suicide in the woods.

Sheriff Eliasen, three deputies, the Minnesota State Patrol and United States Border Patrol quickly responded, traveling west on County Road 7, to search for and locate the man. Officers located the man deceased from what appears to be a gunshot wound, on the Superior Hiking Trail off County Road 6, just after 3 p.m.

It is known that the man was suffering with cancer. The name of the deceased is not being released.
