Cook County High School graduate Ailee Larson received high praise from St. Catherine’s Athletic Department at its season end banquet.
In a news release that complimented the many athletic teams and individuals for 2013-2014 performances, Larson, a junior at St. Kate’s, was singled out.
“But one performance stood out from the rest as Ailee Larson took the spotlight for her spectacular accomplishments this past fall with the cross country team when she was named McCahill Athlete of the Year Sunday evening at the department recognition event.
“Larson was the fourth individual in St. Kate’s history to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championship after racing to All-Region and All-MIAC honors. Larson’s third-place finish at the MIAC Championships is the highest in school history. In her first race of the season at the UW River Falls Falcon Invite, Larson won the meet with the second-fastest time in program history (22:12). Larson had seven top-10 finishes at cross-country meets this season. Additionally, she ran the fourth fastest 5,000-meter run time in outdoor track and field school history to qualify for the MIAC Championships. She was also named the MIAC Cross County Athleteof the-Week three times this season.”
