Larry Paul Livesay, 71, of Crystal, MN died November 11, 2017, from complications of a stroke. He was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Knoxville, TN to Mack and Daisy Livesay.
He graduated from Winnebago High School in Winnebago, IL, attended Pillsbury College, earned a BA from Concordia University and an M.Ed. from Central Theological Seminary. He taught elementary school at Fourth Baptist school and Owatonna Christian School.
Larry was married to Crystal Bookman in 1968, for 18 years.
Larry was known for his love of family, unfailing kindness, willingness to help anyone in need, sense of humor and his incredible ability to whistle. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, playing board and computer games, music, bird watching, reading books to kids, gardening, and eating the food he cooked.
Pre-deceased by mother Daisy (Morgan) Livesay and father, Mack Livesay. Survived by children: Douglas (Nora) Livesay of Crystal, MN, Kirk (Sarah) Livesay of West St. Paul, Heather (Russell) Pudas of Northfield, MN, and Deesa (David) Staats of Northfield, MN; grandchildren: Morgan Livesay, Kiernan “Mack” Livesay, Michael “Ripley” Livesay, Stella Staats, Elijah “E.J.” Staats, Oliver Livesay, Nicholas Livesay, Asher- John Livesay and Jackson Pudas; brother Manuel (Karen) Livesay of Rockford, IL, nieces Amy (Sonj) Joshi and Rachel Livesay; and sister Diana Livesay Cullen of Rockford, IL.
A memorial service was held at Evans Nordby in Brooklyn Center at 4 p.m. on Nov. 16 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Larry’s family wishes to honor his love of education by directing memorials to his grandchildren’s charter schools: Arcadia Charter School, Avalon School, Discovery Charter School, Great Expectations School and Prairie Creek Community School.
