Large turnout for abortion rights movement

More than 150 mad, sad deeply concerned young and old folks came out to take part in a peaceful protest against the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe V Wade.

Most were carrying signs that said “My body. My choice.” Or “We won’t go back,” along with a half a dozen other messages. And while the decision allows states to come up with their own bills on abortion, the consensus was that this should be a federal issue and not a state issue. Local organizers led the one-hour protest that occurred west of Java Moose along the harbor next to Highway 61. The protesters in Cook County joined thousands of protesters across the county who have held marches calling for a return to national abortion rights.

Sponsoring the rally/demonstration/protest were Arrowhead Indivisible, Planned Parenthood and Women’s March.
