Lamb retires from alpine ski coaching

Arguably one of the most successful coaches in Cook County High School history, Charles Lamb has stated his intention to retire as the school district’s alpine ski coach.

In an email to the ISD 166 school board, Lamb announced he was resigning his position as head coach for the alpine ski team because his work commitments have grown too great.

“After seven seasons as head high school coach and 13 seasons total at Lutsen, I have decided to retire from coaching,” Lamb said in an email to the ISD 166 school board.

Although the CCHS ski team isn’t big in numbers, virtually every year there are individuals who qualify for the Minnesota State High School League state ski meet. In 2018 the boys’ team qualified for state and two girls qualified as individuals. In 2017 the boys’ team placed third overall tied with The Brek School, Stillwater, losing only to Minnetonka and Edina. In 2016, the girls’ team finished seventh at the state meet.
