Anglers plying the waters for Lake Superior lake trout got some good news on March 17 when the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced the season had been extended by at least one weekend.
The season has been extended to include the first full weekend of October, and ends at midnight Sunday, Oct. 2. Previously the season closed Sept. 30.
The change came after extensive discussions with citizens and was introduced in the Lake Superior management plan. It is expected to have minimal impact on the Lake Superior fishery but will give local anglers a couple of days of Superior fishing.
