Lake Superior Writers Contest is “Super + Natural”

Lake Superior Writers announces its 2015 Writing Contest with a theme of “Super + Natural.”

This theme was chosen after a year that saw the City of Duluth winning the title of “best outdoors town” from Outside magazine and thousands of people drawn to view the natural phenomenon of Lake Superior’s ice caves in northern Wisconsin. Lake Superior Writers is looking for entries that deal with nature or the supernatural or better yet, a combination of the two.

Lake Superior Writers is a local group that supports the artistic development of writers and fosters a vibrant literary arts community in northeastern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin.

Categories include Poetry (up to three poems); Short-Short Fiction (up to 500 words); Short Story (1,500-5,000 words); and Creative Non-Fiction (1,500- 5,000 words). One winner in each category will receive a prize of $250 and publication on the Lake Superior Writers website. Deadline is April 1.

The contest is free to members. Otherwise the cost is $35, which includes membership. For guidelines and submission information, visit lakesuperiorwriters.org/2015-writing-contest/ or call (218) 348-7133.
