At the beginning of December, the Lake Superior Trading Post in Grand Marais announced a special promotion. The Trading Post asked for nominations of exemplary community members—one lucky person was to receive a Frasier Fir gift basket from The Thymes Company, a $100 value. The Trading Post asked for essays of 50-100 words detailing why this person deserves recognition. The nominations could be for a parent, a neighbor, or a friend. On Monday, December 21, the Trading Post announced that the beautiful gift basket was going to Diane Hagen of Grand Marais.
Hagen was nominated by her daughter, Lisa Wahlers, who wrote:
“I know in my heart that my mom, Diane Hagen, really deserves the Thymes Basket. I have never really had the chance (or time regrettably) to applaud her for the time, effort, and love that she has put into our family. She has always been there for us through the good times and the bad and I feel that without her we would not be the family or people that we have grown to be.
“It has never been easy for her, and I feel she deserves some recognition in her life, just once.
“I love her more than words could ever express and want her to know that she is the lifeline amongst us all and I hope I have the faith and strength to carry us into the next generation!”
The beautiful Frasier Fir gift basket was filled with fragrant candles, bath gel, and lotions.
