This summer, a project is being initiated in the million-acre-plus area from Silver Bay to Grand Portage known as the Lake Superior North Watershed (LSNW).
The lakes and streams of this area have historically been monitored by citizen volunteers, and thanks to the efforts of these folks, we know our waters are some of the healthiest in the state. Over the next two years, several organizations and agencies will continue and expand monitoring efforts in the LSNW by collecting data and information from the field and from citizens – like you – who are living in the watershed. The goal is to gain a clear picture of the current condition of the LSNW, and ensure that it stays healthy long into the future.
Citizens are invited to take part in the important study of the Lake Superior North Watershed (LSNW) this summer. The opportunity is a volunteer experience where you decide how much you would like to be involved and what role you would like to be involved in. The study will be key in better understanding the environment we live in and depend on.
An interactive meeting where citizens will be participating will take place at 6 p.m. May 7 at the Cook County Community Center. If you are interested in attending, RSVP by May 3 to Ilena Berg at 218-387-3648 or ilena.berg@co.cook.mn.us
