Knowledge Bowl team makes big comeback

The Cook County I.S.D. 166 Knowledge Bowl team traveled to the Iron Range last week for their last tournament of the season, and like most good squads, they saved their best effort for last.

“It was a big time showing for Cook County Knowledge Bowl,” said head coach David Liechty.

“This was the most competitive fall season in years, and this young team saved the best for last, staving off very talented teams from Hibbing, Cloquet and Hermantown to snag third place at the regional tournament in a miraculous comeback at Mountain Iron!”

The Vikings scored a meethigh 22 points in the final round and brought home some hardware, taking third place overall.

Leading the team was spokesperson Sylvia Berka. She was joined by teammates Adrian Howard-Larsen, Angel Burnett, Annie Lynch, Cecelia Chmelik and Olivia Nesgoda.
