The Cook County Knowledge Bowl Team has done it again! The team performed well enough at the final tournament to advance to the state meet in Brainerd, Minnesota at Cragun’s Resort.
Their final tournament was on March 24 and Knowledge Bowl Coach April Wahlstrom said, “After a season of wins we were hopeful. They had a great day and beat out all the other teams. This group worked well together drawing on the different pieces of knowledge.”
Coach Wahlstrom added, “Also, on this date, they were awarded the section’s Sportsmanship award. This team has been recognized for their kindness and encouragement of other teams who they competed against. They were also acknowledged by the judges as being a team who is always respectful.
“What an honor to have this wonderful group representing Cook County,” said Wahlstrom.
This was Sean MacDonell’s 4th year participating in the State Knowledge Bowl competition. “He has done a nice job encouraging his young teammates along,” said Wahlstrom.
MacDonell was accompanied by ninth graders Linnea Gesch and Andy Kern and eighth-grader Leif Anderson.
