Cook County School District 166’s Middle School Knowledge Bowl Coach Dorie Carlson has a lot to be proud of this season.
Over the course of three meets the school’s two teams have done very well, with Team 1 placing 4th overall and Team 2 placing 14th out of 53 teams from the region.
Team 1 has scored 227.5 points in three meets while Team 2 has scored 198 points, which is only a one-point difference from the 11th to 13th place teams who are just ahead of them in the rankings.
“During our last meet we placed second and fourth, which was amazing,” Carlson said.
The team’s final tournament will be November 18. Over the course of the season Carlson has changed some team members from one team to the next to give each more balance. The formula worked.
Competing for Cook County are 8th graders Adam Dorr, Kestrel Pollock, Trent Spry, and Emma Gesch. Seventh grade competitors include Malin Anderson, Louise Ramberg, Adrian Howard- Larsen, Ashleigh Precord, Vaughn Swindlehurst, John Vander Heiden and Kevin Viren.
