Klobuchar issues statement on MinnesotaCare settlement

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) recently announced the administration had settled a recent lawsuit between Minnesota, New York and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments.

Under the settlement, Minnesota will receive approximately $85 million for 2018. State officials previously estimated that the administration’s actions would result in Minnesota losing approximately $529 million from 2018-2021.

“This settlement is an important first step towards restoring the federal funding that has been cut from MinnesotaCare since 2017. This is something that we have been working on for months, and the funding will help cover the costs of health care for thousands in our state,” Klobuchar said.

“But the administration still must restore full federal funding for MinnesotaCare, and we should pass bipartisan legislation, like the Alexander-Murray healthcare bill that I have cosponsored, to bring down costs for families across Minnesota and make our healthcare system more efficient and affordable.”
