Kipp Sande,
a 2010 Cook County High School graduate, has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Memorial Fund.
Kipp will be a member of the freshman class at the University of Minnesota this fall, majoring in civil engineering. He is the son of Steve and Nancy Sande of Grand Marais.
Scholarships were awarded to 57 high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic ability and plan to major in sciences or mathematics. Each will receive $5,000 for the 2010-11 academic year with renewal opportunities for up to three additional years.
