Children’s author Jane Schmidt will present a free program at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1 at the Grand Marais Public Library.
Finnegan’s Superior Adventure, an interactive book, is the story of a backpacking trip Finnegan, a lovable pooch, takes with his Grandma Riley. The story is narrated from Finnegan’s point of view, and illustrated in full color with photographs by the author. “There are questions for kids to answer and a mystery to solve,” said Schmidt.
The author has been offering fitness classes throughout Vernon County and beyond for over 15 years. More recently she started Turtle Adventures, guiding backpacking trips for women. Her weekly column, “Jane’s World,” won a first place award in the Wisconsin Newspaper Association’s 2013 Better Newspaper Contest.
When not writing or teaching fitness classes, Schmidt spends time backpacking in places like the Grand Canyon and Isle Royale, biking across Wisconsin, hiking and kayaking in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, or just hanging out with her animal family in rural Viola, Wisconsin.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information contact the library at (218) 387-1140.
