Grand Marais Lion Dennis Burton spent part of this past Wednesday cleaning up the kiddie rides for the Fisherman’s Picnic. Dennis said kids were approaching him asking if the rides were open, but he told them they would have to wait until Thursday. “Anticipation and excitement is building,” said Dennis, who predicts long lines at the ever popular kiddie rides.
Gene Erickson was busy selling tickets to the Fisherman’s Picnic annual drawing last weekend. Erickson has been a member of the Grand Marais Lion’s Cub for 54 years, which is the longest tenure for anyone to serve in the club. Staff photo Brian Larsen
