Kenneth J. Marchand, 75, Duluth and formerly of Grand Marais, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Benedictine Health Center.
He was born October 14, 1943 to Clement “Smokey” and Olive (Gagnon) Marchand in Laurium, Michigan where he grew up. He moved to Minocqua, Wisconsin, graduated from high school and served six years in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam era.
Moving to Grand Marais, he was employed by Saethre Electric for 14 years and then owned and operated Ken’s Electric until retiring in 2001. Ken was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing walleyes and lake trout.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul.
Ken is survived by a son, Richard (Jan) Marchand of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; a sister, Margaret (David) Wilson of Kalkaska, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Maple Hill Church followed by burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Grand Marais. To sign the online register book, visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
