Mike Prom, owner of Voyageur Canoe Outfitters and chair of the CCVB board, is passionate on the topic of how businesses can increase profits by converting customers into clients and even friends. Prom will explain his approach and offer hands-on training in two workshops Dec. 19 and 20. The free events are sponsored by the CCVB and presented by Cook County Higher Education.
Prom is a professional trainer who has spent considerable time developing and presenting his ideas to audiences around the country. His message is simple, and frequently involves hilarious anecdotes. Dollar for dollar, Prom preaches, time and training spent on pleasing customers will bring greater financial benefit than any marketing program you might employ. From refunding fees to customers who found the BWCA too “noisy” to chasing after canoes with forgotten bread, Prom brings his concepts to life. And he explains how to ensure employees never forget principles of customer engagement: Practice, practice, practice.
These workshops are for employers, supervisors and line staff in any enterprise that involves customer relations. While Prom is from the hospitality industry, his message has great value for those in retail trade, government, education and nonprofit activities. Prom will offer his training from 9-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Lutsen Resort and from 1-3:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20 at Cook County Higher Education, 300 W. Third St., Grand Marais.
To register for the workshops, email highered@northshorecampus.org or call 387-3411 before Dec. 14.
