The East Bay Beach Paddling Club is having its second annual kayak rescue day at the Mink Lake Swimming beach from 1 – 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7. Thisis a free safety session provided to promote safe sea kayaking especially for those venturing out on Lake Superior. “Rescue” as it pertains to sea kayaking means re-entering or assisting another paddler to re-enter a kayak after an accidental capsize.
Participants are responsible to bring his or her own kayak and equipment or arrange for rental. Meet at noon at Superior Coastal Sports to consolidate gear and load kayaks onto a trailer for transport to Mink Lake. Please call so organizers can plan for the number of participants.
All kayaks must be fitted with deck lines and bulkheads
Equipment requirements include paddle, paddle float, bilge pump, spray skirt and thermal protection such as a wet suit
